Combining a PV system, a heat pump, and the SMARTFOX energy manager creates the perfect trio. The principle is simple: the existing latent heat from groundwater, the ground, or the air is raised in temperature using a compressor and can then be used for hot water or space heating. This not only significantly reduces heating costs, but also allows you to use the solar energy you generate yourself efficiently and sustainably. The increased self-consumption covers a large portion of the electricity required to operate the heat pump. Conversely, by increasing the use of self-generated electricity, a heat pump boosts the cost-effectiveness of your photovoltaic system.

SMARTFOX connects your solar power system to a heat pump
The SMARTFOX Energy Manager serves as a smart interface between the heat pump and the solar PV system. If there is sufficient surplus energy available, the SMARTFOX system automatically activates the contact. The heat pump increases the setpoint, thereby operating at an optimal operating point. This reduces runtime and significantly minimizes your costs. The following control options are available:
Controlling the heat pump via SG-Ready
The SG-Ready interface provides a simple connection to the energy management system. Here you will find all compatible heat pumps.
If your heat pump does not have an SG Ready label, contact your heat pump technician for information about similar interfaces and control options. Most modern heat pumps have control options and are labeled, for example, as “PV input” or “surplus contact.”
